Curriculum

What you will learn

Seven modules taking you from algorithmic concept to fabricated prototype — bridging computational thinking with hands-on making.

MODULE 01

Algorithmic & Parametric Design Fundamentals

Explore rule-based and data-driven design methods to generate adaptable, fabrication-aware geometries using Rhinoceros and Grasshopper3D.

MODULE 02

Develop rule-based and associative design logic to create adaptable models that respond to material constraints and machine limitations.

MODULE 03

Fabrication-Ready File Preparation

Convert digital models into fabrication-ready files. Learn machine preparation, tolerances, joinery logic, and CAM preparation.

MODULE 04

3D Printing, CNC Routing & Laser Cutting

Gain hands-on experience across all three machines. Understand subtractive vs additive fabrication strategies for each method.

MODULE 05

Material Behavior & Machine Constraints

Understand material behavior, tolerances, and machine constraints. Learn machine operation, safety, and workflow planning.

MODULE 06

Rapid Prototyping & Iterative Design

Design and fabricate an individual physical prototype through rapid, iterative cycles — from concept to assembly.

Testimonials

What participants say.

The hands-on access to machines completely changed how I think about parametric design. It's one thing to model on screen — it's another to see your design cut, printed, and assembled in front of you.
Ananya Sharma
The small batch size made all the difference. Every person got meaningful machine time and the tutors were always available for one-on-one mentoring. It felt like a real studio, not a lecture hall.
Rohan Mehta
I came in with basic Rhino knowledge and left with a fully fabricated prototype and confidence to run my own fabrication projects.
Priya Nair
What impressed me the most was how seamlessly the tutors connected Grasshopper logic to actual machine operations. You're not just learning software — you're learning to think like a fabricator.
Vikram Iyer
Nothing compares to standing next to a CNC machine and watching your geometry take physical form. This workshop bridged the gap I'd been missing for years.
Sneha Kulkarni
The tutors have real project experience from IAAC and professional firms — it shows. They shared the decision-making process behind every fabrication choice.
Arjun Desai
The 12-person limit was key. I got to operate the laser cutter and 3D printer myself — not just watch a demo.
Meera Rajan
Three days and I had more portfolio material than a semester of studio. Absolutely worth it.
Karthik Venkatesh

Frequently Asked

Questions

Do I need prior experience in Grasshopper or parametric design? +
Basic familiarity with Rhino is recommended. Prior Grasshopper experience is helpful but not mandatory. The workshop is structured to support participants at different levels, with guided explanations and one-to-one mentoring during studio sessions.
Is this workshop suitable for working professionals? +
Yes. The workshop runs from Thursday to Saturday (10:00 AM – 5:30 PM) and is designed specifically to accommodate working professionals while still allowing sufficient time for hands-on learning.
Will I get hands-on access to CNC, laser cutting, and 3D printing machines? +
Yes. All participants will work directly with CNC routing, laser cutting, and 3D printing machines. To ensure meaningful machine time, the batch is limited to 12 participants, with team-based rotation across machines.
