PARAMETRIC DECODE –
FOUNDATIONS OF GRASSHOPPER

A 3-Day Beginner Workshop on Grasshopper

Parametric Decode – Foundations is a 3-day beginner-level workshop designed for architects and design students who want to understand parametric thinking from scratch. This workshop focuses on logic building, clarity, and workflow, not complex scripts.
Instead of rushing through tools, we break down how parametric systems actually work, step by step, in a slow and structured manner. This program is ideal for those who feel overwhelmed by Grasshopper or want a strong foundation before moving into advanced scripting and fabrication workflows.

FAQ

Do I need prior coding or Grasshopper experience?
No. This workshop starts from absolute basics. You’ll learn Grasshopper visually—step by step—without any programming background.
What software do I need before the workshop?
You only need:
Rhino 7 or Rhino 8
Grasshopper (comes built-in with Rhino)
No extra plugins are required for the foundation level.
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is ideal for:
- Architecture students
- Practicing architects
- Designers curious about parametric design
👉 Especially useful if Grasshopper feels confusing or intimidating to you right now.
What will I be able to do after 3 days?
By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:
- Understand Grasshopper interface & logic
- Create parametric rectangles, grids & patterns
- Control designs using sliders & data trees
- Confidently use Flatten, Graft & Simplify
You’ll gain a strong foundation to move into advanced workflows later.
Will this help me in real architectural projects?
Yes. The workshop focuses on practical architectural logic, not theory. You’ll learn how Grasshopper helps with:
- Design exploration
- Proportion control
- Panelization concepts
- Workflow thinking used in professional practice
